Thanksgiving thoughts

So tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I can't help but wonder what the big fuss is about. Yes, I like getting together with my family and yes I enjoy eating good food (especially if I don't cook it all), and yes I am very thankful for so many things I have in my life. The fact of the matter is that I feel like I should be thankful every day for things. I truly do have a lot to be thankful for. I have a wonderful family that helps me out so much. I know they would be there for me anytime I need them and while the chaos can get aggravating it is so nice to know that in the end they are some of the most giving people I know. I have some great close friends that keep me going and I appreciate them so much. I have the most beautiful daughter that means the world to me. She makes life so exciting and shows me all the little things daily. I can honestly say that she is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I love her so much. I can't even imagine life without her. We have the most fun together. I often wonder how I got so lucky to be her mother. God trusts Emma to me? Maybe the truth of the matter is he trusts me to her. I certainly do think I need her more than she needs me. I made it through grad school with so much going against me. It was a very trying time in my life. Now I have practically my dream job and am thankful every day that I made it this far. I have a place to live and food on the table. While I know I worked extremely hard for all of these things in my life, I still don't ever want to take them for granted because there are so many people out there that have so little and are still happy. I know my life is not perfect but it is pretty close (now if someone can just throw in the perfect hot man to share it with). Everyone has their trials but at the end of the day how can you not go outside and see the changing leaves, watch your daughter twirl around the living room in her dress, or hear a cheerful song that takes you back and just smile? I think the most important thing is to remember the small things daily and know what matters in the end. Lastly, in the spirit of Thanksgiving I would like to recommend one of my favorite children's books for the day: "Thanks for Thanksgiving." At the end of the book Emma said she was thankful for sunshine and water. Seriously I don't know where that came from.
