Making History

Today our 44th president was sworn into office while I was doing my normal 8-3 job. It made me think about how something so significant could be happening while I led my individual simple life in the background. At first when Mr. Obama was elected I was a bit annoyed at his motivational talk. I wanted him to just talk more real to the public. The masses seemed to not only be following him but literally OBSESSED with him and he appeared to be more of a motivational speaker than anything at moments. I thought I would die if I heard one more "yes we can!" Now don't get me wrong, I think it is wonderful that we have finally gotten to the point as a nation that we can welcome an African American as president. I think it is fantastic that he is giving so many people hope. He has a chance to be a great president and since I am not very political I will leave that all up to you guys to analyze and decide. I just hope people realize that even if he can make big changes that it will take a lot of time and won't happen overnight. If he gets me cheaper health care I will be forever grateful. Or at least if he fixes our educational system, which is a whole other post. With that said I heard the following link on the radio this morning. I thought it was a great piece and very well done. I have to say that after listening to this I did appreciate his motivational talk and did find hope in it. Maybe that is exactly what our nation needs to become more united and get things done.
