Sick days
We all know that part of being human is getting sick. This part of life has got to be my least favorite. In fact that part of being a parent is the hardest thing for me. I can deal with colds and ear infections and even diarrhea but I draw the line at puking all over the couch. I think I have definitely had more than my share the past six years with Emma. She seems to be prone to these tummy viruses. One week when she was about 3 she could not keep a thing down the entire week. That was scary. So aside from the sadness of seeing your sick child in pain and being helpless to take it away I have a really hard time dealing with the vomit. When you can get there in time with a bucket it is a little better but even then it is disgusting. So why am I talking about all this yucky stuff you ask? Emma is sick for the second time since school started and it has only been in session two weeks! Yes, that means I am home from work too! If this is a sign for things to come I definitely need to get rich fast because I won't be able to hold down a job. Miserable! I am hoping she will be well enough to get back to school tomorrow and so far so good but the problem will come if I get sick and have to take more days off. Horrible! Oh the joys! Parents that don't work have no idea how important it is that they don't send their children sick places to expose our non-sick children because we then have to miss work. I need to go on a major education spree of stay at home moms. I think one of the problems this year is that I see no hand-washing going on in Emma's first grade class even before lunch. I am a bit grossed out by that and not sure how to go about changing that. Should I have Emma leave her class and go to the restroom before the cafeteria? I am just not sure how that will work. They were so good about it in kindergarten and that is probably why she was less sick last year. Any ideas? I thought about leaving a hand sanitizer in her lunch box but she buys lunch many days so that won't help. Ugh ok I will stop this ranting and raving and cross my fingers and wish and pray that I don't catch the bug too. Emma is up running around eating fruit loops so I think it's safe to say she is doing better. Thank goodness!

Poor Emma. I hear it is really bad when school starts. All the school age kids' moms tell me. So many germs and so many kids huddled in a small space.
Ahh poor Emma! I really hope she feels better!!
