Kindergarten

Last Friday Emma got her second report card from her school career. It is so amazing to me what kids are expected to learn and know these days. When I was in Kindergarten we just had to know our letters and their sounds. It was more of a play, social, and get used to school time. Now it is all academic. It is incredible how much she has grown and learned in just a few months. She is reading and writing simple things and she tells me all kinds of random cool facts. The downfall is that we can no longer spell to keep secrets around her. She typically figures out what we are saying. Emma has always been a highly motivated learner and I feel very fortunate in that respect because that is always so important to be successful. It is so cute when she comes home and tells me about Martin Luther King or that your heart is the size of your fist. She is fascinated because she met ' A REAL AUTHOR!" What child gets excited about that? Attention wise she has made leaps and bounds and of course she has always been a social butterfly. She even has a boyfriend! She is constantly telling me about Brandon and before Valentine's day we were getting the ones she would pass out together and she was so funny. I read one that had a picture of a butterfly on it and it said "you make my heart flutter." The last thing I expected was for this comment that came out of her mouth all excitedly, "Oh I HAVE to give that one to my boyfriend." It is so very cute in a sweet and innocent way. And I must say she has good taste. He is definitely a cutie. Haha. Oh to be five again! Oh on a side note, I FINALLY bought a new booster that we are actually going to keep this time. This one actually seems to work for her. So no more bulky car seat. That was a long time coming and such a hassle. Anyway, next year I will have a first-grader and I can be sad all over again about my baby growing up. But man I am loving it! Things with her just getting better and better every day! I am proud of my big girl.
