We had such a great time on our San Diego vacation this July! It was Emma's first plane ride (unless you count when she was 7 weeks old for Jeff's wedding) and our first real vacation together! I was not sure how it would pan out but it turned out to be a blast and we made so many fun memories. Here are the highlights. We left on a Monday and took the flight out there. We arrived around dinner time and had to rent a car. It was the crappiest car I have ever seen but hey at least it got us around. We went to stay with my brother and his wife and they so graciously welcomed us and even let us have their room and big bed all week! Tuesday we went to Sea world. Melissa and the kids came with us for half the day. We fed the rays and climbed the huge net in the picture. Emma loved all the shows. Sea World was a huge huge hit on our list! Thursday after a bit of swimming we headed to LegoLand. I was not sure what to expect but we both loved it. It was amazing how all of the animals, cities, cars, etc were built out of legos. The rides and play structures were fun. Emma was at the perfect age for this place. Thanks to my brother Daniel for giving us the tickets as holiday gifts. Friday Jeff and I took Nicky and Emma on a hike overlooking the beach and then down to play on the beach. It was not too hot but I buried both girls in the sand and we jumped plenty of waves. They also tried out boogie boarding. That evening Jeff and Melissa left for an overnight stay somewhere for their anniversary. I was glad to keep an eye out for their kids while they enjoyed some much needed alone time. The next morning despite a 4:50am wake up we had fun at the park and making tunnels and ramps for their play cars. When the parents got home I had fun taking the girls swimming and playing "shark" with them. Later that evening we all went to the local mall to visit the pet shop where Emma and Nicky went crazy holding bunnies, cats, dogs, and other such animals. Sunday evening we had a picnic near the beach for dinner. Emma and I were so happy to get to spend time with her cousins. Monday our trip came to an end with a day at the zoo. Then it was saying goodbye and back to the airport. We had a wonderful time and thanks to Jeff and Melissa for putting up with us for a week so that we could afford to have our first real vacation. It really made our summer complete.

I love your pictures. I am going to have to get some copies. It was really fun to have you guys. Thanks again for watching the kids and sorry for the 4:50 wakeup. Someday that kid will sleep in a little bit. You'll be happy to know Andy is making regular poops again. I think he just started to yesterday. How long was that sickness? My word. Hope you guys will come again next summer.
